About

Hi, I’m Julie!

I am a mother to three beautiful and busy boys ages 6, 4, & 2. I wear many hats on a daily basis and one of them is a teacher. This feels natural to me since before kids I was a teacher in high school math. I was chosen as freshman math team lead and developed the curriculum for my last year there. Although I left teaching to nurture my family, my passion for education has remained.

My husband and I decided early on that we would homeschool our children. I immersed myself in home learning books and connected with the homeschooling community. As my eldest grew I began searching for a curriculum that would blend enrichment and academic based learning for ages 3-5. When I couldn’t find what I envisioned, I decided to make it myself. I created a structured yet flexible program that weaves together nature, art, books, math and science -all centered around common themes.

A few years later I realized that others could benefit from this curriculum. Both homeschool families and those who plan to send their children to school can benefit from these structured learning lessons. And so, Playing for Hours was born – a resource to support fellow parents on their unique parenting journeys.
